This film depicts the internal struggle that each individual must overcome in order to develop a relationship with one another, despite their respective biases and prejudices. The film was screened at the Toronto International FIlm Festival (TIFF), and was short listed for best documentary for the 2011 Academy Awards. Ishmael Khaldi is Israel's first Bedouin deputy consul and the first high ranking Muslim diplomat in the Israeli foreign service. In August 2009, Ishmael was appointed advisor to Israel's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Avigdor Lieberman. He holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from Tel Aviv University. He has served in the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Israel Police, and in the Israel Defense Forces as a political analyst. For anyone interested in learning more about minority rights in Israel, and wanting to clear up the controversial and often contradictory claims surrounding the issue, why not get a first hand account? Anthony has established an organization called Our Soldiers Speak, to bring the proud truth of Israel's soldiers from the front lines of combat to the English speaking world, wherever and whenever audience is granted. Sgt. Anthony specializes in bringing his message to the campuses of North America where he convenes lectures for both the pro and anti-Israel elements of those student communities. To date, Benjamin Anthony has spoken at more than 120 campuses including some of the most prestigious seats of learning anywhere in the world. Sgt. Anthony is an incredibly memorable speaker and we are honoured to host him at Wilfrid Laurier University. His lecture will be followed by an open Q&A session where anyone will be free to ask impromptu questions.
