"Howard and Nancy Kleinberg are two of the most joyful people you are likely to meet. Their trademark smiles radiate a warmth and satisfaction one might expect from a couple who have lived a life of contentment and inner peace. The genuine affection they have for people they encounter - young or old, new face or old friend, Jew or Gentile - is consistent with the way in which they embrace life, with optimism, thanksgiving and a sense of celebration." It is truly an honour to have the famous couple, Nancy and Howard, travel all the way from Toronto to share their story with us, the students and faculty! Come out on Monday November 7th to hear one of the most incredible and powerful Holocaust stories that you will ever hear, filled with bravery and love. They have been married for over 60 years and have been sharing their stories and teaching others for as long as they can remember! They have been featured in newspaper articles and have been on television shows for years! Following their speeches, there will be a question and answer session. Tuesday November 1st marks the beginning of Holocaust Education Week. Hillel has four events running from November 1 - 9 in commemoration of the Holocaust. This event is for the first - a silent memorial march. All volunteers will wear black, meet at the Hillel house (148 Albert) at 11:30am and we will walk together through UW campus, Laurier campus, and end at the Laurier quad where you have the opportunity to say a few words, a poem, story etc that means something to you. This is an opportunity to march in memory of someone who was in the war, whether it be a relative, historical figure, survivor, or someone you have read about whose story meant something to you. Please do consider spending an hour and half of your day volunteering for this cause - awareness and remembrance. If you have any questions or concerns or want to be involved in any way (and you have class at this time for instance), please contact: rachel@hillelwaterloo.com and/or donna@hillelwaterloo.com fb event link: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=150629908369212
